Robert Mulder

Robert Mulder is a singer/songwriter from St. Albert, Alberta. He began developing a love and talent for music at the age of five when he began learning Suzuki piano, and singing in school and church choirs. Robert has preformed in ten musicals with the critically acclaimed St. Albert Children's Theatre and has been continuing to improve his skills in the arts.

Robert began playing acoustic guitar at the age of twelve, and started writing songs at age fifteen. Recently winning the Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Competition Youth Category in May of 2008, Robert will be playing at the Calgary Folk Festival this July. After winning recording time at Music Center Canada in Calgary, as part of the prize for the Calgary Folk Fest Songwriting Comp.

Robert recorded a 5 song EP entitled "Taking You By Surprise". By playing at local coffee shops, open mics, and art galleries, Robert has developed a strong following of listeners that rapidly grows in numbers.

Robert's music has been likened to the soulful surf-rock of Jack Johnson, hauntingly beautiful vocals of Hawksley Workman, rhythms of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and strongly symbolic lyrics of Death Cab for Cutie. His lyrics reflect that of a much older and mature person, and beautiful vocal melodies show off great range.
