Ambre McLean

Ambre McLean has created a sound that is entirely her own incorporating a number of her influences including jazz, country/blues folk and pop. Ambre McLean is emerging from a short sabbatical with a new label, a new CD and a renewed passion for the road. From the get-go she is off like a rocket, winning the 2010 OCFF/Galaxie Rising Star award, in the “Songs From The Heart” competition for her song ‘Me, My Heart and the Moon’. Her schedule this past October found her showcasing at Ottawa’s Bluebird North, and at OCFF 2010. For the last 6 months, Ambre has been traveling coast to coast with the help of Via Rail’s On Board musician program promoting her new album “Murder at The Smokehouse.” McLean’s music has found a new home with indie label Busted Flat Records (which also houses New Brunswick’s Matt Andersen, Brock Zeman, and Jay Semko). Along with Murder at the Smokehouse, Busted Flat will be re-releasing McLean’s piano-based album “I Wonder If”.

Festivals of note last year were Hillside and Harvest Jazz and Blues. She has shared the stage with Canadian notables Melissa McClelland & Luke Doucet, Christina Martin, Kim Wempe, Jane Siberry, Sarah Harmer, Oh Suzanna, Sarah Slean and Gabrielle Papillon.
