Lisa Nicole Grace

Lisa Nicole Grace Evangelos was born and raised in the prairies of Edmonton, Alberta. Growing up in a musical household, Lisa was drawn to creativity at a young age. She was involved in dance, gymnastics and fine arts throughout her childhood. Her shift to music came at the end of high school, when she had extensive spinal surgery to correct a significant curvature of the spine – a disorder called scoliosis. During her recovery Lisa began taking voice lessons.

In 2003, after completing her Diploma in voice at Grant MacEwan College, Lisa decided to move out east to Antigonish, Nova Scotia to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree of Music majoring in vocal performance at St. Francis Xavier University.

In 2005, Lisa finished her degree and moved back home to Edmonton. She began playing frequently around town with various jazz quartets, big bands and contemporary groups. In 2006, after songwriting for what seemed like a lifetime on her own, she decided to form an acoustic trio, putting her main focus on her own songwriting consisting of a blend of folk, pop, country and blues.

Lisa’s songwriting is based on three main foundations, her faith, her family and her friends. She is moved by her relationships, and expresses her unspoken thoughts and emotions through her music. Her melodies are simple and sweet. Lisa is passionate about harmony, and takes great joy in singing backup for various friends and artists. She does her collaborating with her husband Jered Evangelos (drummer for country artist Shane Yellowbird) and her brother in law Brent Schaitel (piano, guitar and backup vocals).

Lisa is currently in the studio recording her first full length record titled “Prairie Belle” to be released fall of 2010. With her EP released and her full length record on the way Lisa is finally ready to make her mark on the Canadian music scene as an up and coming singer and songwriter.
