The Hangers

The Hangers continue to impress. Since their beginning, while still in school, the band redefines the word party. Following their participation in many homecoming and year end events at Cegeps and Universities the band is recruited by Molson Dry - Association of Party Pros (APP).

After this accreditation The Hangers established their spot in the Montreal ska scene. Montreal media declares The Hangers the revelation of the Montreal Ska festival. With building success the band launches their first album 'Half The Fun' to a sold out show at Savoy du Metropolis and start a tour of shows in Ontario.

The Hangers then encounter a large obstacle during a show in February, Phil, the singer collapses on stage, victim of a lumbar hernia. Less than 2 weeks later the bassist Nicolas fractures his femur. This forced hiatus from the scene doesn’t stop them. The members use the time to write new songs before taking back up the road in spring. It’s during this period that they meet two pillars of Canadian Ska Chris Murray and Mitch Girio (producer of albumsfor The Kingpins and The Expos among others). Mitch is impressed by The Hangers sound and signs on to produce the next album out spring 2011.

For those who have not yet had the audio visual pleasure of discovering The Hangers simply note that by mixing Ska, Rock, Funk and Reggae, the band breathes fresh air into the Quebec music scene. All of which is presented with originality without the cliques of each of the inspiring music genres.
