Makeshift Innocence

In 2007, lead singer and songwriter Jesse-James Cameron formed Makeshift Innocence. Cameron lived and went to school in Negril, Jamaica where he fell in love with the tones and feel of Reggae – music that now infuses the group’s Rock, Reggae, Pop and Roots sounds with authentic Caribbean flavour. Tammy Amstutz, and Dylan Lichtenberger hold down the soulful rhythm section on bass and drums respectively.

Known as one of Western Canada's best live acts, selling out 10 Alberta shows in 2010, they were chosen to showcase at this year’s Canadian Music Week on March 11 and were very well received. Their newest release “All You Need Is Love” (Feb 2011) is the lead track from their new CD scheduled for release in June.

In May of 2011 Makeshift Innocence was hand picked to join the worlds leading musicians to play at the Worldwide Radio Summit as well as Musexpo. Musexpo being where Katy Perry and Jessie J were first discovered. Both shows were considered to be among the best there and were even called the 10 out of 10 act by one of the organizers.

In 2009, Makeshift set out on a Canada-wide summer tour spanning Vancouver Island to Montreal. They built their fan base, sold out of their original pressing of 1000 CDs and watched their single "Your Body" propel to the top of Canada’s Myspace charts. Makeshift have ranked in Myspace Canada's Top 10 in several categories, including #1 in Folk Rock, #2 in Reggae and #6 in acoustic and have been steadily increasing those numbers for over the past two years. "Your Body" now has over 1,000,000 plays.

Makeshift Innocence is one of a few Alberta-based acts that expect to receive major commercial radio airplay across Canada and into the US. They have gotten radio play at CHR radio, along with Hot AC. “Your Body” has received considerable airplay (added to rotation and/or features) on nine radio stations including Mix 97.7 Calgary, K94.5 Moncton, 99.1 Wallaceberg, Big105 Red Deer, Kraze Red Deer and AMP Radio in Calgary.

Recently, "Your Body" and "Tides" were heard in the feature film "The Anniversary".
