F*ck my life (Que pena tu vida)

Chile/Spanish (94 mins)

Western Canada Premiere! Javier is a young advertising professional who has fallen in love with Sofia, and while their love life starts off a bit rocky, their relationship matures into two years of approximate bliss. When Javier becomes ‘bored’ and breaks up with Sofia — he instantly regrets his decision.

From that simple set-up, we’re treated to a wonderfully endearing romantic comedy from Chile that alternates from funny to sweet to raunchy to tender… while making overworked genre tropes feel fresh and invigorating all over again. Reminiscent of rom-com classics like Annie Hall, When Harry Met Sally, and the more recent (500) Days of Summer, it’s easy to see why this was such a massive box-office smash in Chile (the sequel is due this fall)…proving that with the right cast and a clever script, it’s still possible to surprise audiences grown accustomed to the tired re-treads churned out by Hollywood.

"Normally romantic comedies are like torture for me, but this one I loved and laughed all the way through. I'm just amazed that someone as creepy as Nicolas Lopez understands relationships so well." -Eli Roth, director of Hostel.
