Vaughan String Quartet

The Vaughan String Quartet is a chamber group based in the city of Edmonton, AB (Canada). Formed by two Brazilians and two Italians (two married couples; a very good real story of love, friendship, music and immigration), the quartet brings a new flavor to the stage with this mixture of ethno-backgrounds. The group focuses on the performance of pieces that are not well-known by the larger audience as well as works by the great masters of the genre.

Founded on February 2013, with its debut concert on March 24, 2013 at the Robertson-Wesley United Church in Edmonton, the group immediately received an enthusiastic response from the audience and the Edmonton music community. Despite its short life, the quartet is already part of the musical scene in Edmonton. The ensemble is named after the English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, who inspired the musicians with his vibrant string quartets.

Recently the group participated in the QuartetFestWest having daily coach with the Lafayette String Quartet, the Penderecki String Quartet, and the renowned professor Gerald Stanick. The members of the Vaughan String Quartet conduct a String Quartet Course at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music at MacEwan University.
