Kumon Plaza, the ambiguous pseudonym of Edmonton's chillwave cherub, Dylan Khotin-Foote, is the electronic culmination of a precocious mind and a bit crunched penchant for simple pleasures. His synth sensibilities arrive delightfully subdued with an admirable precision, all things considered. The rich and resonant colors within Kumon Plaza's debut EP, Cliff, available from OLD UGLY Recording Co., are achieved as if nonchalantly. We all know the sort of work that goes into these things but it is such a joy to imagine this young man just turning on his gear and having these painless conceptions materialize and petrify out of a few minutes of thin air. What joy!
