A Native African, Garth Prinsonsky was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and grew up in Namibia. Having grown up in Africa, Garth’s cultural and traditional upbringing bring both a unique and authentic styling to his artistic works, musical pursuits, and live performance.
In 1999 Garth joined the Mascato Youth Choir in Namibia; considered to be the best choir in the country. He became a soloist for the choir almost immediately. Garth has enjoyed the benefits of touring with the choir, including a notable tour to Canada in 2006. On this particular tour Garth met his then future wife-to-be, Ms. Michelle Lu Prinsonsky, a music teacher with the Edmonton Public School Board.
Besides the choir, Garth has started many bands, of which the majority were very successful. In 2006 Garth co-founded Afroshine, the first band to incorporate African choral music into their contemporary music. Proving a success, Garth and the band were continually, and continue to be, invited to teach this new music to choirs in Africa and Canada.
