The Provincial Archive is an indie-folk project based in Edmonton, AB. With a penchant for arrangement and an ever-growing collection of instruments, The Provincial Archive writes music to document the details of all our unsung stories. Maybe We Could Be Holy (July 27, 2010), takes its cues from the far-reaching corners of pop traditions. It is a dense counterpoint to the sparse production of their debut material (Nameless Places, 2009) and an artistic departure from a group of musicians eager for growth. The Provincial Archive is securing their place at the front of a long line of folk musicians and experimentalists, bridging gaps between folk-pop, electronica, rock and roll and even bluegrass: get ready to hear banjos, upright bass, and synthesizers together at long last.
