Altars of Grief

Conceived in late 2013, Altars of Grief was brought together through an amalgamation of members from different Regina bands with the purpose of creating heavy and emotionally compelling music. The band draws from an eclectic musical background, weaving soaring choral arrangements with powerful, driving death metal; morose, gothic doom and frantic, uptempo black metal passages.

In 2014, the band released it's debut album, titled "This Shameful Burden" to positive acclaim from online reviewers and fans alike. The album has since been nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for best metal album. As well, two music videos have also been produced for the tracks "Only Our Scars" and "The Plague That Haunts The Darkness" - both directed by guitarist and vocalist, Erik Labossiere.

Now, following a year of extensive shows, including two central Canadian tours and a number of festival appearances, the band put forth their newest offering, "Of Ash And Dying Light". A shared release with fellow Regina blackened-doom act, Nachtterror, this is the band's most intense and dynamic work to date. The songs here are more melodic than ever and feature a greater emphasis on clean singing and story-telling.

Of Ash And Dying Light is available digitally and on 10" vinyl through Hypnotic Dirge Records.
