The Be Good Tanyas

The Be Good Tanyas embrace the folk, country, and blues roots of American music with a little touch of contemporary, creating a sound that transcends their ages.

They have released three albums together and have gained exposure in the United States with the inclusion of their music in a variety of television soundtracks ranging from the Showtime series The L Word, Weeds, the CTV series The Eleventh Hour, and were featured during an episode of AMC’s Breaking Bad. The band's music was also included in the feature film Because of Winn-Dixie.

The trio, comprised of Sam (Samantha) Parton, Frazey Ford and Trish Klein, named their group after music pioneer Obo Martin’s song, Be Good Tanya. Formed in the late 90s, these sweethearts of Vancouver provide some of the purest modern/old-timey roots music available. If someone's looking for traditional American sounds that return to the Jimmie Rodgers/Carter Family era, he or she can find those sounds in this trio.
