The Noble Thiefs

The Noble Thiefs believe one thing and one thing only: it’s time for a rock and soul revolution. If crowd reaction is anything to go by, they just might be on to something.

From humble beginnings with aspirations no greater than playing to a room full of people in a friend’s basement, to commanding venues packed with rabid fans at Montréal’s Divan Orange and the legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, The Noble Thiefs have exploded onto the Canadian music scene seemingly out of thin air. But, if you ask them, this was their plan all along. Through a combination of honest music, humility, and their signature, over-the-top live show, the friendly four-piece from Winnipeg known as The Noble Thiefs have become one of the city’s hottest bands.

The Noble Thiefs – Myron Dean (vocals), Riley Hastings (guitar), Ian Lodewyks (bass) and Tim Jones (drums) – make music that speaks to your soul. In what is truly a collaborative effort, every band member contributes to the songwriting process equally, bringing a well-rounded diversity to a repertoire consisting of rock and roll, soul, garage and reggae influences that result in songs that are both instantly familiar and, as one fan so aptly put it, “a breath of fresh air.”

Silky vocals and heartfelt lyrics are a large part of The Noble Thiefs’ music, but there is no denying that it’s their addictive live show that keeps people coming back for more. Raw, inspired and wrought with twisting emotion, The Noble Thiefs are in a league of their own with an unparalleled live show that is more reminiscent of 70s-era punk than the 1950s soul that so heavily influences their sound. Dean, Hastings, Lodewyks and Jones pull all the stops and put everything on the line at each and every performance, sending fans home exhausted and fulfilled.

With the national release of their forthcoming debut album, Beyond The 11th Deck, at the end of 2011, a Canadian tour under their belt, and the addition of newcomer Ian Lodewyks (SubCity, The Barrymores, Kids On Fire), The Noble Thiefs are steamrolling their way forward on a momentum high that doesn’t seem to have any end in sight. So, if an unstoppable force hits an immovable object, what happens? Well, that’s easy; there is no such thing as an immovable object.
