Mister Lucky

MISTER LUCKY has been tearing up the circuit in central Alberta with their own brand of Blues, Boogie and Rockin' R'n'B since the summer of 1997. The prototypical power trio of Mike Chenoweth on guitars, harmonica and percussion, Paddy Smith on drums and percussion and Allan-Lee Ropchan on bass is bolstered by each of them being well-seasoned vocalists. Each of them are equally at home fronting the band or taking a back seat on harmonies. Their energetic show has threatened to tear the roof off many a venue.

MISTER LUCKY draws on over one hundred years of accumulated experience and knowledge of the music they make. Including nearly thirty original compositions, they have en-massed a playlist of over one-hundred-thirty great house-rockin' tunes.

MISTER LUCKY can reach back as far as the 1930's and touch on each and every decade forward to the present, often within one set. They effortlessly shift gears on-the-fly going from a slow grinding blues to a funky hip-shaker to hard-core swing to an all-out rocker all in a few blinks of an eye.

Since 1997, MISTER LUCKY has performed over eight hundred shows around central Alberta. Venues range from the smallest of neighborhood pubs to the largest of nightclubs to house parties, hall parties and festivals. They released their debut CD of all-original material entitled "GET LUCKY" in February of 2000, and due to national distribution has completely sold out of the first pressing. Currently on it's second pressing it continues to do well. In September of 2008, MISTER LUCKY released their second all-original CD entitled "COMING HOME" which has also been very well received by their fans. In all, a total of nine songs from both CD's have received air-play on radio stations such as CKUA, CJSR and CBC.

Cam Hayden is host of CKUA's "Friday Night Blues Party" and is also president of Blues International. It is his organization that presents the Labatt Blues Festival every summer since 1999. Cam and the gang at CKUA have been very supportive, and he says,

"These guys put on a fun show!"
