Jaylene Johnson

If you watch television, you’ve probably heard Jaylene Johnson’s music. With a knack for weaving the scenes of life into beautiful and catchy songs, the 2011 Western Canadian Music Award Nominee has had much success landing music licenses for major network television shows (Degrassi: The Next Generation; Being Erica; Pretty Little Liars).

She can sing, to be sure, but what makes Jaylene’s music special is the sincerity behind it. Her “undeniably angelic pipes” (Uptown Magazine) deliver “songs that make you listen more closely” (CD Baby) and cut straight to the emotional “heart of the matter”. She is a passionate and multi-faceted artist. Even a head on collision with a semi-truck in 2004 did not deter Jaylene from creating music. When she could not tour after her accident, she challenged debilitating back injuries by signing a co-publishing deal with Casablanca Media Publishing for 2007-2008. Since then she has written hundreds of songs and released two new albums (Happiness and Wish-EP). She’s also squeezed in tours in Western and Eastern Canada with indies Cat Jahnke and Sheena Grobb, and played keyboard for Eagle and Hawk at the 2010 Winter Games and with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

So, next time you watch TV, listen closely. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear one of Jaylene’s songs…Simply put, she is an artist who writes music for the scenes of our lives: passionate, poignant and unforgettable.
