Tait/Roberts Duo

Alexandra Tait is a vocalist, composer, and songwriter based in Toronto, currently pursuing her Bachelor of Contemporary Music at Humber College.

She is an active performer in a wide variety settings, ranging from experimental improvisational vocal ensemble "The Elements Choir", to a 10 piece Latin jazz ensemble under the direction of the multiple Juno award winner Hilario Duran.  This ensemble was recently featured at the International Association of Jazz Educators Conference in Toronto.

Additionally, she performs in various jazz and RnB groups around Toronto, as well as leading the development of the website MusicInToronto.com, which will promote and review live music of every genre throughout the Toronto area. Composer and bassist Matthew Roberts recently returned home to Edmonton after completing a Bachelors in Music at Humber College in Toronto. There, Matthew was an active member of the music scene, performing as a sideman in numerous settings as well as leading his own projects, including The Circles Quartet, which featured some of Toronto's finest young musicians performing their original jazz compositions.  During the spring and summer of 2007 he wrote, arranged and performed "The Buddha Suite", a moving seven-part jazz suite portraying the life of Shakyamuni Buddha.  Matthew continues to occasionally perform in Toronto while preparing new projects soon to be unleashed in Edmonton.  In the words of Grammy award winning saxophonist Alex Dean, "Not only is Matt a great bass player, but he continues to develop as an excellent writer and arranger.

His compositions demonstrate a maturity and ability that far out-distances his actual age.
