Sing-a-long-a Canada

After taking New York by storm, Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music launched in Canada with a record 5 week run at the historic Eglinton Theatre in February 2001, the longest continuous run of the singalong version ever.

After an equally successful 2 week run at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver later on in the year, it then crossed over the country with engagements in Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, London, Montreal, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Winnipeg.

In 2011 the show will be relaunched on December 16th at the Lightbox, the Toronto International Film Theatre's new complex in the center of Toronto.

If you're not familiar with how the Sing-a-long-a shows work, here are the basics:

Costume
The important thing about Sing-a-long-a is that it's completely inclusive – you join in as much or as little as you want. It's not compulsory to dress up but many people do and it really adds to the fun. Dip into the wardrobe of your imagination and surprise us with your creation.

The pre-show
There is a 30-minute pre-film show during which the host leads you through a vocal warm-up, prepares you for special moments throughout the film and judges the costume competition. Everyone receives a free fun pack with special props for the "magic moments" that make the evening go with a bang.

Running time
See individual show pages for running times. The times shown include a 30 minute pre-show and interval.

The interval
The interval usually lasts for 15 minutes. Most venues we play at have a bar, which is often open throughout the evening (please check with the venue before arriving).
