Beach Season

Forging a path through today’s youthful electronic music scene, producers Samuel Avant and Simon Blitzer have come together in a collaborate effort known as Beach Season. The talented duo carve a sound of ambient dreamy beats which are intertwined with Samuel’s crooning vocals as they take you through an irresistible sonic daydream.

Like so many of today’s young producers, the two had a humble beginning recording tracks in a basement. Their first project, Obey the Crooks, was a hip-hop influenced group collaborating with numerous Calgary based artists including Max Jullian and AYE. In 2013 Samuel and Simon began experimenting with a second project to develop a sound which was truly unique; they moved away from hip-hop but kept the edge in their beats while they worked toward ambient electronic music. Now known solely as Beach Season, the duo have been able to craft songs and continue to grow with their individual styles as they establish their presence in the growing Canadian music scene.

In 2014, Beach Season teamed up with Calgary-based electronic label Close To Modern to release the debut EP 'Internet Evening'. The six tracks were comprised of crooning R&B vocals, hip hop influenced rhythms, and lush wavy textures. With the release of ‘Internet Evening’ Beach Season has had great progress in their career, through 2014, playing CMW in Toronto, Sled Island in Calgary, opening for Australia's Rufus, Brooklyn’s Cashmere Cat and Israeli artist Adi Ulmansky. In the Fall of 2014 Beach Season toured across Canada playing in major markets such as Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and stopping in at CMJ Marathon. This was accompanied by a national publicity campaign with Indoor Recess where Beach Season received a number of articles and reviews highlighted by Noisey, Earmilk, and Beatroute. With momentum building up, we find them back in the studio now to work on their 2015 album release.
