Blake Berglund

Berglund's musical history is truly something impressive and as much as his accolades speak volumes (nominations and wins at the Mayors Arts Awards, SCMA's, and Independent Music Awards) it's his work ethic and unique carving of a genre that have people spreading his name and backing his abilities. As for that work ethic, Berglund astoundingly sold 15,000 albums through the dedication of door-to-door sales. Covering Western Canada, the "cold introduction" to hundreds of thousands of strangers and the deterrence of "no thank-yous" (at the most polite) Berglund pulled the feat off in three years in and around 500 performing dates.

He's armed, as a troubadour should be. With a back catalogue in the hundreds, a trusty arsenal of acoustic guitars, and a diesel van 'rounding 400,000 km, Berglund now has a polished album to aid in his success. Teaming up with John Ellis (Ridley Bent, Dustin Bentall, Tara Oram, Doc Walker, Leeroy Stagger) two agreements were made: "To create a country album unlike anything in the mainstream today and if we feel we have enough pedal steel - double it." The result was 11 self-penned songs sounding as if conceived in Lubbock, TX, 1972. The retro throwback in sound supports tales of the obvious heartache and wanderlust to lamentations of the rodeo lifestyle and prurient women.
