The Edmonton Columbian Choirs began in 1965 under the direction of Paul J. Bourret (1933 – 2010). It was set up as a girls’ choir sponsored by the Edmonton Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Since that time, the group has had up to five concert choirs for children and adults. The choirs have competed successfully at the local, provincial and national levels. They have performed in Europe, across the United States and throughout Canada. The choirs provide a quality music education with highly qualified conductors and accompanists. The Edmonton Columbian Choirs perform the widest musical diversity from Classical to Contemporary and Broadway – including Jazz and Contemporary Canadian works. The Edmonton Columbian Choirs currently produce three concerts annually which include performing at McDougall United Church and the Royal Glenora Club. There may also be the opportunity to travel and participate in weekend retreats. Individual choirs may have other performance opportunities arranged through the conductor throughout the year.
