Based in Edmonton, Canada, singer-songwriter project St.Arnaud (Ian St.Arnaud) emerged following the unexpected death of close friend and bandmate Luke Jansen. The two, along with drummer Will Holowaychuk, rounded out the folk-trio North of Here, prior to Jansen's death in late 2017. No stranger to the festival scene, following performances at Canmore, Winnipeg, and Edmonton's major folk festivals, North of Here was on the move when the unthinkable occurred. With a breakout album of work in line to be recorded and released under North of Here, St.Arnaud's debut works will include songs from the ill-fated North of Here record, as well as songs written in the period following the death of Jansen.

The sounds of St.Arnaud, often stripped bare and raw, highlight the careful interplay between Ian St.Arnaud's understated vocals, an 8-stringed octave mandolin, and sprinklings of Rhodes piano. Fans of Kevin Morby, Bahamas, and Shakey Graves will appreciate the weight of the lyrics, with intertwined themes regarding the challenges of young adulthood, grieving the loss of a friend, and impactful moments highlighting the importance of resilience. Working closely with decorated producer/engineer Graham Lessard (Basia Bulat, The Barr Brothers, Timber Timbre) at the helm, St.Arnaud will release their debut single, Morning Dreamers, as well as their debut full-length album, The Cost of Living, later in 2018.
