Tilo Paiz

Originally from El Salvador, Percussionist Tilo Paiz started his professional career at age 14 as a drummer in the 1960s big band scene in San Salvador. Since then he has established himself as a powerhouse performer, recording artist and bandleader in the Latin American and Canadian music scene. Since arriving in Edmonton in 1990, he has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Tommy Banks, Bob Stroup, Gaye Delorme, PJ Perry, Pavlo, the Funk Brothers and Sandro Dominelli. Although he is known primarily as a latin musician, Tilo refuses to be categorized by genre. His musical style embraces everything from world beat to traditional jazz to blues and rock. With more than 50 years of performing experience, Tilo continues to perform, record and teach, and inspire young musicians. Tilo is delighted to present his Latin Jazz Quartet.
