Founded in 1979 the Josephburg Choral Society consists of a Men's Chorus (15-20 men) and a Handbell Ensemble, the Bells in Harmony (10 ringers). With our roots in the Josephburg Community Church our music began in the church with sacred pieces but over the years it has broadened to include a more balanced repertoire with many popular pieces. See our website for our complete repertoire. We've traveled regularly throughout the Prairies and BC and have taken trips to Ontario, the Maritimes, Phoenix and North Dakota/Minnesota/Wisconsin. Audiences have appreciated the mixture of the two and when we're performing in the Edmonton are we often invite a guest performer or group to join us to further widen our appeal. We add to ticketed concerts with visits to seniors residences, jails, community events and the Legislature, for a total of about 12 engagements annually. See our website for upcoming engagements.
To us, the group is family. It has grown into much more than just a chorus and handbell group. And we're always looking for more people to add to the family. The love of music is a must, the ability to read music is a bonus and if you've got other administrative and artistic skills we can always put them to use. We maintain the tradition of being a non-audition group. Membership fees are $100 annually.
