Rejected for their sound, their name, and their color, 34 years later the band Death-from Detroit began receiving what is now world-wide recognition for the Rock-N-Roll music they created in Detroit throughout the seventies. Their music and message is universal, and the sound of Death-from Detroit is unique and tight! Equal parts electrifying rockumentary and epic family chronicle, the story of Death is one of brotherly love and fierce, divinely inspired expression. In the early '70s, an unlikely band of brothers came together in Detroit and began playing a style of high velocity music under the name of Death. Three decades later, the Hackney brothers make their debut. A BAND CALED DEATH tells unprecedented story of the world's first black punk band. Filled with timeless music, the documentary rightfully claims Death's place in music history. As Jake White writes, "The first time the stereo played, I couldn't believe what I was hearing . . . Ahead of punk, and ahead of their time."
