Ever wanted to go behind the scenes at the Winspear Centre? Join us November 12, 2018, for the second Stage Door Sessions, held in the backstage studio where the ESO, our guest artists, and even the Rolling Stones have rehearsed.

Winspear Centre is proud to present “The Soldier’s Tale”, an encore performance of the sold-out Fringe hit from last summer. Igor Stravinsky and the Swiss novelist Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz were inspired by a Russian folk tale and created this masterpiece to be ‘read, played and danced’ with simplicity - no singing, no large ensemble, and no elaborate stage design.

Stravinsky, who has been described as one of the most influential composers of the last century, scored for a quirky combination of instruments: violin, double bass, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.

Directed by Farren Timoteo and choreographed by Laura Krewski, “The Soldier’s Tale” features local artists Oscar Derkx, Andrea House, Davina Steward, and Camille Ensminger and will be performed live by an ensemble of seven musicians under the leadership of our very own Alex Prior.

Patrons can enter through the stage door off 97 Street. Doors open at 2:15 PM.

Thanks to our sponsor, Servus Credit Union, this show is presented as a “Pay What You Can”.

Please note the seating is extremely limited. RSVP to reserve your spot.
