Jemma & the Good Thing

Jemma Hicken is a folk-pop singer-songwriter hailing from Cortes Island, BC. Jemma's songs are introspective and personal; she writes emotional and comical stories about her island upbringing, her travels, and the people who inspire her along the way. Jemma grew up listening to the Beatles and Supertramp on her family stereo and learning to harmonize during long island-wide power outages. At age 14, Jemma wrote her first song. Now, a decade later, she has amassed a catalogue of 50+ original tunes. She has drawn recent inspiration from artists such as Fiona Apple, Cat Stevens, Edie Brickell, and Kate Nash – among many others. Jemma is known for her unique voice, compelling lyrics, and heartfelt performances. She is currently studying music in big-city Edmonton and, with the help of guitarist Gareth Gilliland, bassist Kelsey Wood, and drummer Ryan Payne, she's put together an exciting project: Jemma & the Good Thing.

Nisto, of Beaver First Nation, is a singer-songwriter from Fort Vermillion in Northern Alberta. He is a psychedelic folk-rock artist, who now resides in Edmonton to pursue a career in music. His biggest musical influence is Waylon Jennings, but says that he finds influence pretty much anywhere. From blues, to folk, to classic 70s outlaw country; Nisto does it all.
