Kelsey Huget

I have always had a camera on me since as far back as I can remember. I started off at the early age of 11 with a cheap Kodak film camera, used that till I was 14 and received my first little Nikon Digital for grade.9 grad. I used that through high school, getting a feel for digital world of photography. I also used a Polaroid camera at the same time. Once graduating high school I decided to invest in my first SLR and bought a Canon Rebel Xt. I grew to love it fast and had a whole new appreciation for digital photography, though I think deep down my heart lies with film. There is just something far more exciting about the anticipation of what your photos will turn out like and the inability to delete your mistakes. Some of my best work was created through mistakes. Due to the high expense of shooting film, I still mainly use my Canon. It's been good to me, I love it, I really do. I recently inherited a 1985, Konica Film camera which I haven't used a whole lot, but I find myself falling more and more in love with it every time I shoot with it. It was definitely a whole different feel from using my Canon. The hand on practice is great. I have already seen the technical practice using my Konica begin to transfer into my photography with my Canon. It's really neat to see that parallel and how they relate. I am self educated for the time being but hope to enrol in some courses or an education in photography in the near future. Hobby or carrier, this is my passion and I see myself doing this for the rest of my life.
