Raymihuara was founded as a musical ensemble in Edmonton in 1976 by a group of Chilean refugees and since then has performed South American folk music in Canada. The group's performances have included the Edmonton Heritage Festival, Calgary Heritage Festival, Red Deer Folk Fest, Edmonton Folk Fest, Saskatoon Folklorama Festival, Regina Folk Festival, Fort McMurray Heritage Festival.
The group has been very active in rescuing, preserving, and sharing of Canadian hertiage. Members travel to the Andean countries and collect stories, songs, and instruments from the Andean region. Preservation is accomplished by sharing and mentoring young musicians from the community. We as a group believe and foster a community of South American musicians.
The repertoire for each performance includes songs and stories from several South American countries, where the musical instruments blend with vocal harmonies to create a very unique and diverse musical experience.
