Robbie Sinclair and the Beggars Laughing

Victoria born singer songwriter Robbie Sinclair moved to Montreal in 2004 to pursue Electro acoustic Studies at Concordia University. During his studies he teamed up with Elijah Baker (drums), Stephane Joyce (bass) and Lucas Haneman (guitar). Together they have developed a sound that uniquely blends elements of folk, rock, funk, world music and reggae. Today this paring of unique musical talents has hit the Montreal music scene by storm.

Sinclair’s emotionally gripping song writing conveys messages of his personal travels, relationship experiences, as well as universal themes of personal growth and social commentary. The band as a whole supports Sinclairs song writing with groove and tasteful musicality. Elijah Baker’s intense yet subtle drumming infuses life into the rhythm section providing a musical backbone, the expressive fretless bass work of Stephane Joyce weaves rhythm and harmony together, uniting the elements of this ensemble, and Lucas Haneman’s fiery guitar work establishes a blanket of texture and spontaneous instrumental ornamentation.
