Tatum Williams

Once she realized that singing was her true passion, it took Tatum Williams all of about 2 seconds to realize Country Music was the way she was going to pursue that passion! At just 20 years old, this singer/songwriter knows exactly what she wants to do with her life. She wants to make music that comes from her heart, sing songs that tell a story, and she wants to share it all with you!

For as far back as Tatum can remember she loved to sing! ".. and my family will vouch for that. We have home videos of me singing the same song over and over and over again. I am sure I drove them all half crazy back then, but they love it now." Growing up on an acreage in Alberta, about 25 minutes from Edson, Tatum didn't always have easy access to all the forms of entertainment her friends did, so to pass the time she would pedal over to her Uncles place where he would play guitar and she would sing the hours away. It wasn't long before it changed from passing the time to there is never enough time. Tatum would spend every spare minute she could at her uncle's, singing songs by John Denver, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, and many other great artists.

When she turned 15 Tatum decided it was time to get even more serious about her singing if she was going to make a career of it. She started taking lessons and for the first time in her life began singing in front of audiences filled not only with friends and family, but people she didn't even know. Some of her first performances were in a small coffee shop in her hometown. There she brought tears to the eyes of many customers with her emotion filled versions of songs by some of her favorite artists, Martina McBride, Jamie O'Neal, and Sara Evans, just to name a few. The owner of the coffee shop was so impressed he wanted an autographed photo to show everyone once Tatum "made it big"! "I remember I didn't even have any headshots then but he was so insistent that I got my Aunt to take some photos with her digital camera. No make up or anything. Just my sweatshirt and me. I am sure that picture will come back to haunt me some day!!"

From there Tatum entered numerous singing competitions, some local and some out of town. She even traveled to Las Vegas for the USA World Showcase where she received a first place trophy for ‘Potential in Country Music', and made it into the top 20 overall. She still enters the occasional contest but is spending more and more time playing at pubs in and around Edmonton, Alberta and performing at events. She recently performed at Country Kin Fest in Edson, AB featuring headliner Julian Austin!

About a year and a half ago Tatum decided she wanted to learn to play guitar. She already knew how to play piano, but learning guitar was something she felt she really wanted to do. It didn't take long for Tatum to realize she not only enjoyed playing guitar, but that she had found passion number 2. Just 3 months after that, at 19 years of age, Tatum did something many people are not fortunate enough to do in a lifetime. She found a third passion! She co wrote her first song Mr. Hollywood. "This song is very special to me and not just because it is the first song I ever wrote. It tells the story of a cousin of mine who has inspired so many people, myself included. He is just so amazing." (To hear the song, visit Tatum's MySpace profile using the links to the right) "Singing anything for an appreciative audience is amazing, but singing my own songs, songs I helped write, and having people clap and sing along, or cry, or come up to me after and tell me how much they enjoyed them, well I haven't found the words to describe that just yet, but when I do you can bet I will use them in a song!"
