We Were Friends

We Were Friends was founded by singer, guitarist and songwriter Clay Swanson and former bass guitarist and songwriter for The J.A.M.S; MJ Cumine.

The two met in 2007 at Camp Rock star, where Swanson and Cumine were camp bandmates. Their first songs together were "Face Down" and "Queen Seduction". It was here that MJ Cumine (bass, vocals) and Clay Swanson’s (guitar, vocals) long-standing friendship took root.

After several years apart at university for music studies, they have now reunited with Amanda Rene (percussion, vocals) and Max Foerster (guitar, vocals) to form We Were Friends. Although each of the members have enjoyed individual success with bands such as The J.A.M.S, WyClarify, And He is Us and Conditional Identity; they were looking for bigger musical conquests. Through all their previous success, the band members have remained grounded by a long-standing friendship.

Their natural camaraderie, not to mention the musical essence that occurs when these four friends unite, is profound. We Were Friends performs a supercharged blend of acoustic, folk, alternative and blues-rock that will get you up on your feet. We Were Friends are ready to make their mark on the Edmonton music scene.
