Cikwes is a Nehiyaw soul singer and song writer. Her musical background is rooted in Woodland Cree traditions, with creative influences ranging from over tone singing, jazz, soul, r n b and reggae. Cikwes is a fluent Cree speaker and sings in her mother tongue and in English. Her album, ISKO, which means 'Woman' in the Cree language was nominated for the Best Folk Album for the 2019 Indigenous Music Awards. As a vocal percussionist, her works intention is to leave the audience feeling empowered, cultivating a raw primal freedom that is available to all. Cikwes's voice is pure and haunting and her ability to pull sounds from the spirit world leaves audiences mesmerized.
