Chris Gheran

Born into white collar management, singer/songwriter Chris Gheran felt out of place. Now he has found his voice and feverishly phrases what most of us feel but can’t express.

While preparing his fourth album, Chris has developed his own comprehensive studio for preproduction. This album is set to release in the fall of 2012. His first album Monster (2008) rocks out his Hard Folk - band style, Coup d’etat (2010) is a solo collection of unique perspectives on war and society. Calgary, (2011) is a calico album –if you don’t like the music, wait for the next song! The lyrics of all will touch your soul.

Chris confidently opened for The Fray at Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary May 2011, played in Medicine Hat’s Tongue on Post Festival in January 2011, performed at the 2010 Calgary Folk Music Festival (6 performances) and hosted the CFMF 2010 Youth Songwriter Competition. Chris’s opening act complemented The Wailin’ Jennys in the beautiful Knox United Church in downtown Calgary last year. In 2008, he opened for Jonathan Richman with a phenomenal solo set in concert at the Martha Cohen Theatre in the Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts as part of Sled Island 2008 and 2009.

Chris won JackFM’s Busker contest August 2010 and judge in 2011. Chris came in first at Shotz Bar & Grill singer/songwriter contest, was highlighted as a “Band to Watch” on FUEL, and was a semi-finalist in both the FUEL 90.3 Rock Star 2008 and Blind Beggar’s Big Rock/X92 Original Music Showcase. Chris was chosen to perform at Kelowna’s Rockanagan in 2008 and 2009. Energy 101.5 interviewed Chris as did FUEL, CJSW, JackFM, and X92.9 with on air performances.
