Daniel’s trio will bring to you the sounds of Swing, Jazz, Celtic and much, much, more…

Daniel has been playing the violin since the age of five. He plays a variety of fiddle styles and classical violin. Some of Daniel’s instruments include a Zeta (electric fiddle), a 5-string fiddle and a nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed-fiddle). Daniel is currently studying towards a B.Mus with Guillaume Tardif at the University of Alberta as well as performing, recording and teaching. Daniel has had the opportunity to tour with Zéphyr, a French-Canadian dance group, performing at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D.C., Mondial des cultures in Drummondville, PQ, Folkmoot USA Festival in North Carolina and Interfolk Dance Festival in France. In November 2002, he travelled to London, Ontario to receive the Conservatory Canada Speake Medal of Excellence for Grade 8 Strings for having attained the highest mark in Canada for that particular discipline. Daniel was honoured to have competed at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Championship in August of 2003, representing Alberta. In 2004 and 2008, Daniel returned to this competition and was a top eleven finalist each time. In the spring of 2003, Daniel released his debut album Flying Fiddle. Daniel’s second album entitled Endless Possibilities was released in April 2005. In 2006, Daniel was selected by the Regroupement artistique francophone de l’Alberta for a provincial tour under the title of “COUP DE FOUDRE”. He was also nominated for “Young Performer of the Year” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Daniel has released a debut album with his band, eclecTrip, which features an array of musical styles. Just recently, eclecTrip was nominated for “World Recording of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards. He is also collaborating with a well-known French-Canadian storyteller/accordionist named Roger Dallaire. Their duo is known as “Trad’badour”. They explore the roots of French-Canadian culture through stories and music. Their debut, self-titled album was released in the spring of 2008. Trad’badour is in high demand in France, having already finished successful tours in 2007 and 2008. Daniel has worked with Les Bûcherons. They provide “Artist-in-residency” programs to schools all around Canada. Daniel has taught and presented workshops for many schools and organizations including Calvin Vollrath’s Annual Fiddle Camp, The Pelletier Guitar and Music Camp, Kenosee Kitchen Party and John Arcand’s Fiddle Fest.
