Andy White

Irish singer-songwriter ANDY WHITE carries a 12 string guitar under his arm and wears his particular brand of Irish magic and charm on his sleeve. With the political edge of the young Bob Dylan, the romance of David Gray and the Celtic influences and lyricism of the Waterboys, an Andy White concert is a special experience.

With a 15 album (and 3 book) career, Andy has won all the top Irish music awards, written with the likes of Peter Gabriel and Neil and Tim Finn, and toured the world many times over.

Andy’s Canadian story started in the dark days of the Troubles when he and sisters were brought over from Belfast to enjoy a sunny summer and a house with a swimming pool in Vancouver with his aunt, uncle and cousins, many years ago.

Cut to 1998, five albums into a solo career and signed to True North Records, Andy was booked to play Calgary and Winnipeg folk festivals. At the latter, he bumped into JUNO Award- winning singer-songwriter Stephen Fearing.

The two became firm friends and wrote a series of songs for Stephen’s group Blackie And The Rodeo Kings, including the classic ‘If I Catch You Crying’. In 2011, Andy and Stephen formed the duo Fearing & White. Their self-titled debut album was released that year, followed up by TEA AND CONFIDENCES in 2014.

With three sold out Calgary shows, an appearance at Sherwood Park in Edmonton, and an amazing reception to the Fearing & White album, Andy’s solo dates this summer are a great opportunity to get to know the less-familiar half of the duo close-up.

Andy’s new release 21st CENTURY TROUBADOUR is a double CD set – the first album a compilation of songs from his last four albums, all featured in his book of the same name, the second an ‘audio book with soundtrack’ written and arranged from his written work.

Come spend an evening with a very special Irishman, you won’t find a more perceptive writer or passionate performer.
