Songwriter Doug Hoyer, an Edmonton oddity transplanted to Athens GA, has often shifted his sound over the years. In the past he's performed crooning over a ukulele, breakbeats, casio keys, ableton, ipod, powertrios and 6 piece bands; yet this visit we will witness another side of Hoyer, through the guise of a string quartet.

On October 21, Hoyer will be debuting a collection of songs, both from his sprawling back catalogue as well as newly written material from his next 'in the works' record, Background Actor, with a string quartet comprised of Sophie Heppell (Violin), Zizi Zimera(violin), Maren Elliott (viola), and Jackson Vandervinne (cello). Will Hoyer's songs hold up to this ensemble? Will his arrangements crumble under his own hubris? Tune in on October 21 with a sweaty brow to witness a musical teeter-totter in motion!
