Edmonton's Greenwood Singers, under the direction of Robert de Frece, closes its 40th season with Around the World, a program comprised of music from different times, places, and cultures, at McDougall United Church (10086 MacDonald Dr NW, Edmonton, Alberta) on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

The program will open with Willametta Spencer's setting of John Donne's poem, "Around the Earth's Imagined Corners." The journey continues with Late Renaissance part songs from Italy, Germany and England, followed by a collection of folk song arrangements and music composed for the Russian Orthodox Church. The trip then explores the month of April in different parts of Europe and arrangements of popular songs about travel: "Far Away Places," "Come Fly With Me," and "Around the World." The concert will close with A Sentimental Journey Through the Forties, a medley of popular songs arranged by Hawley Ades, including such well-known favorites as "It's a Big Wide Wonderful World," "Sentimental Journey," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," accompanied by Helen Stuart (piano), Jeff Johnson (bass) and Murray Smith (drums)
